Hello readers. Welcome to my blog. Well, in this session I would like to talk about handwriting and digital writing. Happy reading!

Writing in this context is defined as an act to take some notes done by the use of different resources or tools for writing. There are two different methods of writing, namely handwriting and digital writing. So, which should you do? And which one of these methods is the best for you? First kind of writing method is handwriting. Handwriting is taking a note or information by using our hand from a source (it can be from your lecturer, a book, a journal, and so on) that we think is most important, but generally handwriting means that you can remember the material better. Whereas, digital writing is a process of taking a note or information by using a digital tool. Means that we can write the material which is most important on a screen by touching tablets or smartphone screens. Well, from the definitions above, however, they have their own advantages and disadvantages. First thing that you have to know is that the use of handwriting can make you understand the material better. One of the reasons, it because when you write some notes by using your own hand. It will force you to memorize it, because you have to be able to condense the information down into something useful and pick out the key information from your lecturer for example. Then you would read those information’s over and over again just trying to ingrained into your head, so you would remember and understand everything. In the other hand, it also takes you to have a good skill in handwritten. And how about a digital writing? As we know that in this era, everything is digitally. Moreover, for them as a learner. Nowadays schools are regarding the relationship between writing achievement and digital resources. In this case, a digital writing can improve the skills of struggling writers, which can increase accessibility and equity (Stone, 2002; Liberg, 2014; Agelii Genlott & Gronlund, 2016). Digital writing is can make student be faster to take information’s while they are listening to their lecturer. This is also do not need many pages of paper notes to write, and digital writing might be a better option when you have to understand concepts with a lot of resources. Besides, the advantages of digital writing are organization, easy to edit, infinite space, and customization too. But if we look at from another side, they both having the disadvantages. The use of digital writing method I think it is more efficiently than handwriting method in some conditions, for example, when you have to do your assignment and it makes you to look back on it. I think it become a little difficult to find the point you need, because a lot of paper and summary were writing there. In addition, writing on paper will not guarantee that your summary will be safe, because the paper is easily exposed to water or missing. The use of digital writing is not always become a good choice in some reasons. According to Muller and Oppenheimer (2014), digital writing impairs students’ memories. Muller and Oppenheimer’s conclusions were that students remember better when they write by hand and that digital writing can affect students’ performance negatively. Then make text become meaningless depreciation. Many researchers have suggested that laptop note taking is less effective than longhand note taking for learning. It due to they found that students who took notes on laptops performed worse on conceptual questions than students who took notes longhand. The main issue when they come to type in down your notes, it is like you want to just copy the exact information that’s been said without thinking about what it is your writing down. Type in notes on the keyboard can be a passive process, when you as a learner just transcribe what has your lecturer saying. So far, after reading about this topic I feel happy. It because I get a lot of science about handwriting and digital writing. I feel like everything is explained well enough and I can add some information to my notes. Then this topic is also making me wants to organize my handwritten note or when I do with a digital note. Then there are a lot of new insights that I get after reading and watching about this topic. Firstly, now I know that both methods are having their own advantages and disadvantages. Although a digital note having more advantages than a handwriting, however, handwriting is beneficial for my memorizing information (better for recalling information). In the other hand, by writing down information, condensing it, reviewing it over and over again to ingrained into my head. It would make me remember and understand everything. But in any situation, might be I will use a digital note too. Because it is more organization, easy to edit, infinite space, and customization too. And of course, make me faster to take information than handwritten. It makes me easier also to find many resources such as grammar, word, spelling, and so on. For next, I will do either handwriting or digital writing in appropriate time. So, I can use both methods for my classes.
